A wing hydrofoil board will allow you to fly, even without strong wind

Hydrofoil boards, often just called foil boards, are specialised surfboards with a hydrofoil underneath. A hydrofoil contains 2 wings that carry you out of the water, by pushing the water underneath it down. This generates a force under the wings that lift the wing from the foil upwards. The wings are attached to a mast, which is connected to the board.

What is the difference between a kite hydrofoil board and a wing hydrofoil board?

The wing hydrofoil board has more volume (so bigger), and the wings underneath are bigger and wider as well. This is because the wing that you hold in your hands is smaller and generates less power than a kite. To compensate for the smaller amount of power, you need a board with more volume and a front wing that is bigger. The bigger your wings are, the less power it needs to lift you from the water.

For wing foiling, you don’t need to be a kitesurfer, since you hold a wing instead of a kite. If you have experience in windsurfing you will find that wing foiling is quite similar, meaning the progress will likely be faster. To learn wing foiling you need, like most sports, time to master the little things. Overall in a few hours, you will manage to stand up, and after a little more time you will be able to fly above the water.
